There is a scene in Wes Anderson’s ‘Grand Budapest hotel’ which will live in my head forever, rent free.
The main character M. Gustave is in prison. Any food parcel that goes into the prison is chopped into tiny pieces by the guards to check for contraband. But Agatha, M. Gustave’s friend, is an incredible baker and makes beautiful pink and green cakes in which she hides hammers and spades. Not wanting to destroy the delicate cakes they move them through without cutting. This then allows Gustave to dig a tunnel and escape.
It is my favourite movie of all time and this pink and green cake is my homage.
